Designed for Precision based multi-channel loudspeaker systems, the Precision 6.C is a dedicated centre channel loudspeaker voice matched with the Precision range. The Precision 150 mm (6”) Dual Concentric is at the heart of the 6.C, accompanied by a 150 mm (6”) bass driver for additional LF extension and impact. The compact cabinet offers all the benefits of the Precision curved cabinet design and is acoustically loaded with an Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) to further enhance bass response. The front-mounted ABR allows the Precision 6.C to be placed close to rear walls or on equipment shelves while retaining all the articulation and dynamics of the matching Precision loudspeakers. A dedicated plinth is supplied to support the curved cabinet. Tannoy’s latest TS 2.10 and TS 2.12 subwoofers have been designed as the perfect complement to any Precision based multi-channel loudspeaker system.
The Precision range combines Tannoy’s 85 years of loudspeaker design experience with modern high tolerance manufacturing to deliver outstanding accuracy and musical articulation. This luxury loudspeaker range is based on a new 150 mm (6”) version of Tannoy’s world-renowned Dual Concentric driver with WideBand tweeter technology. Delivering exceptional bandwidth with extremely low colouration this innovative point source driver ensures faithful reproduction of the source information.
Precision cabinets are truly unique, mixing acoustic engineering and aesthetic beauty in equal measure. The curved side panels reduce internal standing waves, reduce panel resonances and increase cabinet volume while ensuring even the largest Precision models have a discreet look and compact footprint.
On the inside precision engineering and precision performance is the root of this loudspeaker ranges’ name. For the cabinet, heavyweight fibreboard construction, unique architecture, complex bracing and Tannoy’s patented Differential Material Technology (DMT) draw heavily on Tannoy’s rich heritage in loudspeaker design. Precision crossovers are hand-built and hard wired from the finest components.
From the real wood veneers and deep gloss lacquer finishes to the aluminium trims and unobtrusive branding, the Precision range boasts premium design and finish throughout. Subtle dark-weave grilles with sub-surface magnetic fixings ensure a smooth, contemporary look with the grilles on or off.
Unique cabinet design
Drawing on Tannoy’s rich heritage in fine loudspeaker craftsmanship, Precision cabinets mate traditional acoustic engineering with contemporary style and design. Flat front and rear baffles coupled with curved side panels reduce internal reflections and brace the cabinet structure. This geometry minimises cabinet colouration, improving the clarity and communication of the music.
Low-loss laminated core inductors and audiophile-grade polypropylene capacitors are used exclusively throughout the Precision crossover. Components are hard wired onto a rigid mounting board rather than using a typical Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The result is an exceptionally clean signal path and very low crossover losses, ensuring the very best in detail resolution and musical communication.
Precious metal wiring
Silver-plated, high purity oxygen free copper wiring is used throughout the Precision range. This high-end cable construction offers low-loss, high-current signal transfer to ensure every musical nuance is reproduced. Silver-plated cabling is noted for its pure HF reproduction further enhancing the Precision range’s musical communication.
High end connections
The Precision terminal block features high quality gold-plated bi-wire binding posts for a secure connection to heavy-gauge bare cable, spade or banana plug terminations. Tannoy’s signature fifth terminal is incorporated across the Precision range to earth the driver chassis to the amplifier ground and reduce RF interference in the audio system. Each Precision loudspeaker is supplied with high purity copper bridging links with gold-plated terminals for single-wire installations.
Mass Loading Cavity (MLC)
A Mass Loading Cavity (MLC) has been engineered into the cabinets of the flagship floor-standing Precision models. The MLC offers user-specified bass tuning by filling or part filling the sealed cavity with dry mineral aggregates or dedicated loudspeaker ballast materials. Depending on room acoustics and flooring construction loading the MLC can improve low frequency timing information and enhance stereo imaging.
Precision floor-standing models are supplied with custom plinths designed to stabilise the loudspeaker and improve ground coupling. Each plinth incorporates Tannoy’s easy-to-adjust floor spikes. Each metal bodied turret is mounted through the plinth, allowing the spike height to be adjusted from above. A large CNC machined thumb wheel locks the spike in place for maximum rigidity. Dedicated spike cups are supplied to protect polished or marble floors.
